Pray For Ethiopia šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡¹

JOHN 15 MALACHI 1,2,3

ETHIOPIA

  1. Ask God to touch the hearts of Christians in northern Ethiopia so that they would be willing to share God’s love with the Somalis in the southern provinces. Pray for his love to break down any cultural divisions.

  2. Ethiopia is going through a time of transition with prevailing economic and socio-political challenges. A recent peaceful election has been undertaken yet there has been political disruption with social unrest in parts of the country. Pray for continued peace and stability through inclusive national dialogue and concerted reconciliation measures. Thousands of people have been displaced in Northern Ethiopia exacerbating the growing number of Ethiopian refugees suffering in different countries and in refugee centres. Pray that the Lord’s eyes are on those in need and that he would work and provide in unimaginable ways among the poor and vulnerable in Ethiopia.

  3. Please pray that the Gospel of peace would proceed forth throughout Nigeria, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, and other African nations on this incredible continent. May the beautiful feet of those who bring Good News be readied with peace. Pray for upcoming Al Massira trainings in Malawi. May they further equip the local Churches for discipleship and evangelism to advance the spread of the Gospel. Pray for the AM resources being translated into several African languages. May they bear fruit for the Kingdom. Pray the AM App would be fully provided for and ready for widespread use throughout Africa.

  4. The ongoing armed conflict in Tigray in Northern Ethiopia that began in November has left many dead and injured and about 2 million people displaced. Pray for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019, to find a timely and peaceful resolution to this war. Pray for organisations, the church and local believers to be able to bring God’s love and hope as well as practical help. Pray for God’s intervention and his presence to be felt for those affected and those still in danger.

  5. Pray for the follow up to Al Massira (AM) trainings held in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Malawi. Pray the ā€˜gospel of peace’ to be clearly communicated through every participant. May each proceed to journey through this gospel resource with friends. Pray our Father’s protection over his people particularly so as hostile groups increase their threats to ā€˜steal, kill and destroy’. Pray the One who came to give ā€˜life and life in abundance’ would meet with those that persecute him and his people. Pray God’s abounding provision for the development of an AM App to further enable his Good News to be heard.

  6. Pray for a new initiative by Global Care with a church partner in Koshe, Ethiopia, to help women and children living in poverty achieve greater stability, access education and build a better future. Please pray plans to develop self-help groups and microfinance schemes will make a strong start despite the coronavirus pandemic, and that the charity’s Christmas Appeal, which will fund the new work, will be successful. Pray that many children will be able to access education, and that their education will be valued by their families, ultimately providing a route out of poverty.

  7. Pray for peace in Ethiopia. Global Care’s Ethiopian partners, the Addis Kidan Baptist Church Welfare and Development Association, who deliver a range of initiatives supporting the education and welfare of vulnerable children, write: ā€œPlease pray for our country, we have experienced political unrest and violence in different times, we want the global community to pray for long lasting and sustainable peace in this country. Pray that God will help us and the people we serve, and keep us healthy and protected from coronavirus.ā€

  8. There are nearly 11 million ethnic Somalis in Somalia. They are a very individualistic people, sharply divided into clans, and fights often occur between the clans, resulting in many deaths. Somalis enjoy telling stories and learning history through their poetry. Pray that many Somalis will come to know Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. And ask God to grant favour and wisdom to mission agencies focusing on the Somalis.

  9. Please pray for the many women who have been raped, divorced and left by their husbands, and the many children who have been smuggled out of Somalia and into exploitation or abandonment. Many of them are in camps in other parts of the Horn of Africa and are in desperate need of hope.

  10. Ask God to touch the hearts of Christians in northern Ethiopia so that they will be willing to share God’s love with the Somalis in the southern provinces. Pray that his love will break down any cultural divisions.

  11. Pray for WEC’s leaders in Africa as they seek to see the work advance among Somalis. Pray for tools for mobilising new workers and for highlighting the needs of the region. Thank the Lord for the work already being done among Somalis in the UK and the USA, and pray that these initiatives will be the first fruit of a mighty harvest.

  12. There are very small believing communities in various cities and towns in Yemen. Pray for God to knit these communities together in Christ as they care for one another in practical ways. Pray for God’s protection upon them.

  13. Years of war in Yemen have created a nation of people who have buried loved ones, been injured physically and suffered extreme psychological trauma. Pray that God will stabilise the situation in Yemen, and bring peace to any Christians there who are living in the midst of huge upheaval. Pray for the people of Yemen to hear God’s word and come to follow Jesus.

  14. Please pray for Somalis in the UK: that they will come into contact with the gospel while there. Pray for Christians in the UK to be good witnesses and to show God’s love towards all in their communities. Pray that this witness will provide opportunities for good conversations about faith.

  15. Give thanks for the renewed energy in the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to tackle leprosy, following the recent publication of a health report mapping cases across the country. NGOs, including TLM, are working with the Ministry of Health to intensify leprosy control in the disease hotspots that the survey identified. TLM partners with a Christian community organisation, Life in Abundance, which works in some of the shanty towns surrounding Ethiopia. Give thanks for the amazing work the organisation’s social workers are doing, by making house-to-house visits to people affected by leprosy, to give health education and to provide livelihood support. Please pray for the TLM team in Ethiopia: Tanny (Acting Country Director), Wogene (Programmes Officer) and Berihun (Administrator), as the office is in the midst of staff changes.
